Directions: The purpose of this webquest is to review grammar and writing concepts. You are to complete the following tasks below. As you progress, make sure to record your answers a Word document, so you can print your paper out and turn it in at the end of class. You do not need to double-space this assignment, but please use the traditional MLA header and font style/size.

Task 1--Reviewing Basic Grammar Parts

1. Review of Parts of Speech: Start with this quick warm-up on the parts of speech. When you are finished, write one sentence telling how well you did on this exercise.

2. Review of Prepositions: Take the quiz on prepositions and record your score when you are finished. If you do not score above a 75%, please retake.

3. Task 1 Prompt: Answer the following prompt, and when you are finished, highlight all the adjectives (you must have 10), underline all the adverbs (you must have (10), and capitalize all the prepositions (you must have ten). The prompt is "If you were President of the U.S., what would be your top priority, and why?"

7. Identify Comma Splices: Take this quiz on comma splices. When you are finished, take 2-3 sentences to explain how well you did. Also, note any questions that you may have an this exercise.

8. Using Commas with Coordinating Conjunctions: Take this quiz on comma splices. When you are finished, take 2-3 sentences to explain how well you did. Also, note any questions that you may have an this exercise.

9. Using Commas: Go to dianahacker.com, log in, then go to "Grammar exercises." Next, click on "Punctuation," and complete E-ex 17-1 Major uses of the comma , E-ex 17-2 Major uses of the comma,  E-ex 17-3 All uses of the comma, and E-ex 17-4 Misuses of the comma. Once you are finished, write your score (or ability level) for each exercise, and give a 1-2 sentence response that explains how well you feel you know these concepts.

10.Eliminating Wordiness: Complete this exercise on wordiness. When you are finished, take 2-3 sentences to explain how well you did. Also, note any questions that you may have an this exercise.

11. Task 2 Prompt: Write a letter to the person sitting to the write of you. In this letter, use 3 simple sentences, 2 compound-complex sentences, and 3 compound sentences. Give the letter to the person, and have them underline the simple sentences, circle the compound sentences, and star the compound-complex sentences. Turn this in with your entire assignment.

Once you are finished, write your score (or ability level) for each exercise, and give a 1-2 sentence response that explains how well you feel you know these concepts.
